Mark your calendars and clear your schedules—Chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune are officially landing tomorrow, June 4th (or June 5th if you’re in Japan, Australia, or New Zealand). It’s time to dive back into Toby Fox’s whimsical, weird, and wildly emotional world.
Haven’t Played Deltarune Yet? Here’s What to Know
If you’re new here (welcome!) or just need a quick refresher: Deltarune is a story-rich, episodic RPG from Toby Fox, the creator of the beloved Undertale. While it shares some familiar faces and vibes, Deltarune spins a totally different tale in a parallel universe.
You play as Kris, a human kid who, along with the rebellious Susie and kind-hearted prince Ralsei, gets pulled into the mysterious Dark World. Expect turn-based combat, bullet-hell-style dodging, and choices that actually matter. Oh, and the music? Absolute bangers.
What’s New in Deltarune Chapters 3 & 4?

This release is a big one. Not only does it move the story forward in meaningful (and probably emotional) ways, but it’s also the first paid release in the series.
Toby Fox has confirmed that these two chapters combined are longer than Chapters 1 and 2 put together, promising a substantial amount of new content.
While official details remain somewhat guarded to preserve surprises, we do know:
- New Characters: Expect to meet an array of fresh faces, both allies and adversaries, that will populate the Dark World. Some teasers have hinted at new “Darkners” and at least one character named “Pluey” that still needed implementation during testing. Familiar faces like Toriel and Sans are also confirmed to appear in some capacity.
- New Areas & Environments: Each chapter of Deltarune introduces a distinct Dark World, and Chapters 3 and 4 are no exception. Toby Fox has mentioned finishing the “final main overworld area of Chapter 3” and having “most of the cutscenes” and “all maps and battles” done for Chapter 4, suggesting entirely new locations to explore. Chapter 3 is described as “a pretty strange one,” while Chapter 4 will be “much more standard.”
- Unique Gimmicks & Gameplay: Just like previous chapters introduced mechanics like the teacup ride, new gameplay gimmicks are confirmed for these chapters, with one particularly “complicated gimmick” noted for Chapter 4.
- Deeper Story & Lore: The narrative will undoubtedly move forward in meaningful and probably emotional ways, expanding the mysteries of the Dark World, the Roaring, and the connection to the Light World.
The Chapters 1–4 bundle will cost $24.99, and if you grab it now, future chapters will be added as free updates.

Console Availability for Chapters 1 & 2
If you’re looking to catch up or start fresh, Chapters 1 & 2 are already available on PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
And good news: the new bundle (Chapters 1–4) is also heading to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, with cross-buy support — so no worries about double-dipping if you upgrade your console.
Don’t Worry, Chapter 5 Is in the Oven
While all the buzz is around Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4, some fans are already asking: what about Chapter 5?
There hasn’t been a new update on it recently, but the last word from creator Toby Fox—shared back in late 2024—gave us a pretty clear idea of what to expect next. At the time, Fox stated:
“Some team members had to focus on Chapter 1, 2, and 3 bugfixes for a while, but our more recent hires have able to work on Chapter 5 during that time, so progress has still been steady!
The rate of creation is quite solid this time! Many things are in development at once!”

“Anyone not working on localization, console porting, or fixes, is now working on Chapter 5. This will be the main focus for us moving forward. I’m really excited to see this Chapter get made!”

In other words, the team’s next big mission is clear: Chapter 5 is up next. And here’s the cherry on top—once it’s ready, it’ll most likely be added as a free update for anyone who owns the Chapters 1–4 bundle. So if you’ve already got the bundle (or plan to), Chapter 5 will just drop right into your game down the line, no extra cost.
It’s shaping up to be a full-on Deltarune experience, with even more to look forward to after the next big release.
Whether you’re in it for the characters, the clever writing, or just trying to spare every last enemy, Deltarune is about to get a whole lot deeper. Tomorrow’s the day—don’t miss it!
